This weekend, 3 teams of talented game developers joined together in efforts for charity. The teams had 60 hours each to create games on a live video stream. I was mostly paying attention to this event because Mojang was creating a game and being as they created Minecraft and I love Minecraft, I couldn't miss out on watching this team in the act of creating a game from scratch. They're geniuses!
Mojang made a Steampunk/Egyptian game called "Catacomb Snatch." My boyfriend donated for both of us to get the bundle of games and I've got to say this is a pretty impressive single and multiplayer game for something that was put together so quickly. The graphics are 8-bit made on Adobe Photoshop and there's various characters. The main character is an archaeologist who runs around shooting snakes, mummies, bats, scorpions and more. You gain money by picking up jewels that are dropped when the enemies are killed. With the money you can buy turrets and bombs. If you play multiplayer, you get to attack the other player too...that is if you make it past the crowds of monsters.

Wolfire Games created "The Broadside Express" which seems to be some sort of train game where you shoot cannons at robots that attack you. I don't quite understand it and don't believe it's finished. The other team, Oxeye Game Studio made a game called "Fists of Resistance" which still is yet to be uploaded and played.
Within 60 hours, 81,570 donations were made to purchase this bundle of 3 games. The total amount raised for charity was $458,220.95 USD. The record of viewers watching the stream at a single time was 41,240 viewers. The highest single donation was $2,222.22.
